Hiking ...

We are located ten minutes from the Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park. The park contains 60,000 acres of virgin timber, secluded lakes, and miles of rivers and streams. There are ninety miles of foot trails, ranging from the one-mile interpretive loop at the Visitor Center to the rugged and challenging 16-mile Lake Superior Trail. A short drive will take you to the scenic Lake of the Clouds or Summit Peak, the highest point in the park. An observation tower at Summit Peak provides an outstanding view of the park, as well as the surrounding areas. On a clear day you may see Wisconsin, Minnesota, the Apostle Islands and Copper Peak. You can also hike portions of the North Country National Scenic Trail or venture into the Sturgeon River Gorge Wilderness area.

Walking the beach relaxing, searching for stones, polished glass and driftwood or just enjoy the sound of the lake and fresh air. Look for the northern lights or just enjoy the stars.  Several pocket beaches are located close by.

In autumn, when the trees begin to turn brilliant colors, you can enjoy an abundance of big game, small game and waterfowl hunting. Whether seated in a bow stand for whitetail deer or black bear, or walking through a stand of aspens for woodcock or ruffed grouse, the forest surrounds you with the beauty of nature.
